Krewe name:  Westchase Krewe of Freebooters

About Westchase Krewe of Freebooters:

We are a social, leadership and charitable platform for the Westchase Community and surrounding area.

Although we call Westchase our home, we are not exclusively Westchase residents and remain open to new members from the surrounding Tampa Bay area. We have no formal volunteer requirements, but we do expect our members to volunteer willing for charitable events when they can participate.

Mission/charities:

Our most prominent charitable focus is the Westchase Charitable Foundation. The mission of the WCF is to provide direct financial assistance to Tampa Bay families who have children or parents battling serious illness, or who are faced with severe family tragedy. In addition, our Krewe supports and volunteers for various community charitable fundraising events such as the Great Westchase 5K (Title 1 County Schools), the Westchase Thanksgiving Food Drive (Metropolitan Ministries) and the Westchase Santa Parade (Tampa Boys & Girls Club).

Costumes/garb:

Best known for the LIVE mermaids dressed in colorful tails leading our float during parades, our male and female members also wear vibrant blue sailors vests and corsets.
